Tips
Inscribed by UNESCO in 1990 and the reason to give Santo Domingo a day rather than treating it as an airport. The Alcázar de Colón, built for Columbus's son, the Catedral Primada de América and the Fortaleza Ozama are the three to pay for; Parque Colón and Calle Las Damas — the oldest paved street in the Americas — are free to walk. Go in the morning before the heat. About fifteen minutes' drive from Chabad and the kosher market in Piantini, so pair it with lunch there.
