City overview
Greater Cleveland's Orthodox community sits on the east side, in Cleveland Heights, University Heights and Beachwood. The Waxman Chabad Center is on South Green Road in Beachwood, and Zemach Zedek is on Lee Road in Cleveland Heights. The Cleveland Eruv covers parts of Beachwood, Cleveland Heights, University Heights and Shaker Heights, and the Beachwood East Eruv covers the area east of Richmond Road. Both eruvs have a Friday status hotline, so check their status before Shabbos. Case Western Reserve University and downtown Cleveland each have their own Chabad house.

Getting Around
Public transit
The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) runs buses and rail.
The Red Line runs between Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, downtown Cleveland and Louis Stokes Station at Windermere in East Cleveland. It does not run into Cleveland Heights, University Heights or Beachwood. RTA buses serve the east side, including routes 9 (Mayfield) and 94 (East 260 - Richmond, which stops at Green Road Station and Cedar and Richmond). Fares: cash $2.50 per ride with exact change, $5.00 one-day pass, $25.00 seven-day pass, and a fare-capping smart card launched in 2026. Without a car, the east-side corridor is hard to cover quickly, so most visitors use a rental car or rideshare.
Rideshare
Uber and Lyft operate in Greater Cleveland and are authorized at Cleveland Hopkins; pickup and drop-off are on either the upper (departures) or lower (arrivals) roadway.
CLE Airport Taxis pick up only at the taxi entrance at the south end of baggage claim by carousel 11.
Car rental
The rental car facility is off airport grounds at 19601 Maplewood Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44135.
A shuttle runs 24 hours a day from the Ground Transportation Center at the terminal and takes about 5 to 7 minutes. On-site companies are Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty.
Airport
Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) is the main airport. It is about 30 minutes from Beachwood by car. Akron-Canton Regional Airport is about 40 minutes away and Cuyahoga County Airport about 10 minutes. The RTA Red Line leaves CLE about every 15 minutes for most of the day and reaches downtown in under 30 minutes. RTA buses, including routes 9 and 94, continue to the east side, and a car or rideshare is often faster.
