City overview
Denver pairs a lively, walkable downtown with the Rocky Mountains on its western horizon, so a single trip can take in world-class museums, Red Rocks and a day in the high country. The city sits a mile above sea level and gets plenty of sunshine year-round. Denver has a long-established Orthodox community spread across three neighbourhoods — East Denver around South Monaco Parkway and Holly Street, historic West Denver near Colfax, and Southeast Denver by the Tech Center — each with its own eruv. Scroll K, the Vaad Hakashrus of Denver, supervises the city's kosher restaurants, and a cluster of them sits within walking distance of the East Denver shuls.
Denver has three community eruvin. The East Denver eruv, built with the guidance of Rabbi Shimon Eider z"l and under the local supervision of Rabbi Shmuely Halpern, covers the main East Denver community; check its status at denvereruv.org or on the hotlines (303) 836-3788 and (303) 281-9099. The West Denver eruv is bounded by 17th Avenue to the north, Sheridan Boulevard to the west, Lakewood Gulch to the south and Perry Street to the east; its hotline is (303) 767-3788. The MB Glassman Southeast Community eruv, maintained through Aish of the Rockies, is bounded roughly by Union Avenue to the north, Ulster Street to the west, Promenade Place and Coral Place to the south, and Dayton Street, Belleview Avenue and Havana Street to the east; it is assumed up unless otherwise posted, is checked weekly, and has a hotline on (303) 220-7200 ext. 6 with a map at aishrockies.org/southeast-eruv. In Aurora, contact Ohr Avner Community Center on (720) 388-2704 for eruv information.
