City overview
Orthodox Jewish Las Vegas centers on the west side - Summerlin and the neighborhoods around Charleston Boulevard and Fort Apache Road - with a second hub in Henderson. Most kosher restaurants are supervised by the Va'ad HaKashrus of Las Vegas, a project of Chabad of Southern Nevada. The city's signature attractions run from the Strip to Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon west rim, so a rental car (or rideshare) makes a visit much easier.

Getting Around
Public transit
The Las Vegas Monorail runs along the east side of the Strip from the MGM Grand to the SAHARA, with stops at major hotels and the convention center.
RTC buses (the Deuce and SDX) run the length of the Strip and downtown. Neither reaches the Summerlin or Henderson kosher areas usefully for visitors.
Rideshare
Uber and Lyft operate throughout the valley and are the practical way to reach the west-side kosher restaurants and shuls from Strip hotels without renting a car; typical fares from the Strip to the Summerlin kosher area run $15-25.
Car rental
All major rental companies operate from the LAS Rental Car Center, reached by shuttle from both terminals.
A car is the easiest way to tour Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam and Valley of Fire, and simplifies Shabbos-adjacent logistics between the Strip and the kosher neighborhoods.
Airport
Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) is the main gateway, at the south end of the Strip and about 15-20 minutes by car from the Summerlin kosher area and 25-35 minutes from Henderson. Rideshares pick up from designated areas in the parking garages of Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Kosher options at LAS are limited; travelers generally pick up food at One Stop Kosher Market or one of the west-side restaurants on the way from the airport.
Good to know
Best time to visit
March to May and October to November are the most comfortable seasons, with warm days and cool evenings. June through September is extremely hot, with highs regularly above 105 F. Winters are mild by day and cold at night. Big conventions and New Year's push Strip hotel prices up sharply.
Insider tips
Las Vegas is a driving city: the Strip, the Summerlin and Henderson kosher areas, and the desert attractions are all spread out, so budget for a rental car or frequent rideshares. For a Shabbos stay, Chabad of Southern Nevada runs guest suites with a minyan on the property, and Arizona Charlie's West is the closest hotel to Chabad of Southern Nevada (ask Chabad for its rate code). Arrange Shabbos hospitality at least a week ahead through Chabad (702-259-0770) or, in Henderson, Ahavas Torah Center. Mikvahs: mikvah at Or Bamidbar Chabad East (chabad.vegas) and at Ahavas Torah Center in Henderson.
Safety & emergency
For any emergency - police, fire or medical - dial 911. The Summerlin and Henderson neighborhoods where the Orthodox community lives are suburban and generally safe. On the Strip and Fremont Street, watch for pickpockets in crowds, and avoid walking the long desert blocks alone late at night.
