City overview
Scottsdale and neighbouring Paradise Valley sit at the foot of Camelback Mountain on the edge of the Sonoran Desert, known for resort pools and spas, championship golf, desert hiking, the galleries and museums of Old Town, and Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West. The area also has an established Orthodox community centred along Scottsdale Road, with daily minyanim, a community eruv covering all of Paradise Valley and much of central Scottsdale, and kosher restaurants a short walk from several hotels.
Eruv
The Valley Eruv Project (the Scottsdale Eruv) is bounded by State Route 51 to the west, the Loop 101 freeway to the east, the Central Arizona Project Canal to the north and the Arizona Canal to the south, covering all of Paradise Valley and parts of Scottsdale and Phoenix. It is maintained by Ahavas Torah, Chabad of Phoenix, Chabad of Scottsdale and Congregation Beth Tefillah, with Rabbi Avrohom Teichman as Rav HaMachshir and local supervision by Rabbi Ariel Shoshan together with Rabbis Pinchas Allouche, Yossi Levertov and Zalman Levertov. Weekly status is posted on the eruv website, where you can also sign up for email updates. Anything south of the Arizona Canal (including part of Old Town Scottsdale), east of Loop 101, or north of the CAP Canal (including the Pinnacle Peak and Troon North area) is outside the eruv.
