North Miami-Dade stretches from the Biscayne Boulevard shops and waterfront parks of North Miami and Miami Shores up through North Miami Beach, Skylake, Highland Lakes, Ives Estates and Ojus to the oceanfront Town of Golden Beach at the Broward County line. It is a practical, lived-in base for a South Florida trip: Miami International and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International airports are both within easy reach, Brightline trains stop in Ojus, and the beaches, Oleta River State Park and Aventura's shopping are minutes away. The area is also one of Miami-Dade County's largest Orthodox Jewish and kosher hubs, with shuls, kosher restaurants, bakeries and markets concentrated along the NE 163rd and 167th Street corridors and in the neighbourhoods to the north, and a community eruv in North Miami Beach since 1977. Visitors can daven, shop and eat kosher every day of the week without heading to Miami Beach.

North Miami Beach has had a community eruv since 1977, run by the North Miami Beach Eruv Council, a not-for-profit organisation; the City of North Miami Beach permits the eruv on its public rights-of-way. The council's official map shows the boundary running along the 163rd Street corridor from the I-95 side and north through North Miami Beach, with a separately drawn Skylake section; the council's site is https://www.nmberuv.org and its official map is at https://www.nmberuv.org/eruv-map. Farther north, Highland Lakes is covered by an eruv maintained by Chabad Chayil, which has been extended into South Hallandale and shares status updates through its Eruv Updates WhatsApp group (https://bit.ly/3p41lrn); boundaries and exclusions are on its eruv page at https://www.chabadchayil.org/templates/articlecco_cdo/aid/3180058/jewish/Eruv.htm. An eruv can go down after storms or construction, so check its status before every Shabbos; outside these boundaries, including North Miami, Miami Shores and Golden Beach, ask your host shul about carrying.
