Chabad of the Dominican Republic
Dominican Republic
Punta Cana and Bávaro hold most of the country's hotel rooms but have no permanent congregation and no year-round kosher establishment, so Shabbos there means food ordered ahead and delivered. Chabad prepares sealed Shabbos meal packages and full catering from its Santo Domingo kitchen and delivers to resorts, private villas and cruise ships anywhere on the island. Over Yeshiva Week and Pesach, large organised kosher programmes run at Punta Cana resorts with their own mashgiach and full Shabbos dining, booked separately through the operators.
How it works
Order by phone, WhatsApp or email before you travel rather than after arriving. Individual meal packages need at least twenty-four hours' notice with card payment; full catering can need up to a week. Give your resort or villa name and room details when ordering, and confirm the delivery window — Punta Cana is roughly three hours by road from the Santo Domingo kitchen. Note that there is no minyan in Punta Cana outside organised programmes, and no eruv anywhere in the country.
Times
Orders taken Sunday–Thursday 10:00 AM–5:00 PM, Friday 10:00 AM–4:00 PM
Walking
Delivered to your accommodation, so no walking is involved. Guests who want a minyan and a communal Shabbos table should base themselves in Piantini in Santo Domingo, or at Playa Dorada on the north coast.
