Richmond Torah Center - Chabad is at 423 10th Avenue in the Richmond District, and the Schneerson Center is at 2655 Balboa Street. The 16th Avenue Tiled Steps are a 163-step mosaic staircase rising 82 feet in the quiet Golden Gate Heights neighborhood, created by artists Aileen Barr and Colette Crutcher and unveiled in August 2005. The sea-to-sky design uses more than 2,000 handmade tiles and some 75,000 fragments of tile, mirror and stained glass, many bearing the names of neighbors and local businesses who sponsored them.
